DIXCO - HTx7 Hood Tachometer - 8000 Rpm

DUSTER

Plymouth Duster 340-WEDGE with Mopar Hood Tachometer Option

In 1971 and 1972 Mopar offered a new "dealer installed" Muscle-Hustle Package which includes a black engine hood with a 340-Wedge decal, hood pins and a DIXCO Hood Mounted Tachometer.

The DIXCO 8000 RPM Hood Tach was among the many options available to Duster 340 buyers. Although both Demons and Dusters were affordable performance machines in base form, they got expensive in a hurry once buyers started checking-off-boxes on the order street.

With real performance on the wane by 1971, splashy graphics and assorted imagery pieces became more popular. This blacked-out-hood with "340 Wedge" identification was one of many available A-Body dress-up items. Even in net-rated 240hp form, the Duster 340's small-block was still a hot little number in 1972.

Many Duster / Demons owners installed the Muscle-Hustle Package later in the 80th, at this time the legendary original early DIXCO HT/x Tachometer were no longer available and replaced by tachometers from manufacturer ALPESA with the new color-codes scale (Tricolor).
