Ford Hood Tachometer - DIXCO HT/x |
|
1970 Ford Hood Tachometer from
DIXCO HT/x
FORD also released the Hood Mounted Tachometer for the US market through his
accessories channels "Ford Accessories" or "Muscle Parts".
The design included a black and white display lettering scale with a white RPM
pointer and a red RPM engine limiter
pointer that could be set from the outside.
The Hood Tachometers were always dealer installed options, the ordering was not
possible together with the car. If factory installed, Ford would deliver a supplemental window
sticker, supplied by the dealer to the purchaser. That never happened!
The original
DIXCO HT/x
comes with the black and white display lettering scale and was most seen on the
following cars:
- Mach 1
- Mustang Boss 302
- Mustang Boss 429

On the left side you can see a Ford period correct
1970 DIXCO HT/x with the black and white display lettering scale and the
Ford Logo on the Front Bezel. Right is a newer version from DIXCO HT/x the
Tricolor.
Tricolor Hood Tachometers was never sold over Ford's channel like "Ford
Accessories" / "Muscle Parts".
In the late 70th and 80th the Ford period correct Hoot Tachometer
was no longer available. At this time, ALPESA
had the Tricolor only in the program and many people changed a broken Tachometer trough this version, or installed it as aftermarket add-on product.
Many people believe that the Tricolor is the original Ford Hood Tachometer. But
unfortunately, that is wrong!

This is a 1970, NOS never used Ford Hood Tachometer, with the original
